4th of July Celebration

The 4th of July celebration in Henrieville hasn't changed much since I was a kid! After the flag raising ceremony, there is a town parade. Next is foot races, 3-legged races, and wheelbarrow races. Then carnival games, a bake sale, and lunch. The only new addition is large inflatables for the kids to bounce, slide and play on. Small town celebrations are the BEST! With so few people, everyone gets to participate and it's always your turn to play! The kids had a BLAST! Wish I'd had my camera handy for more pictures of the races and inflatables. But these will have to suffice. :)

Jarom is carrying the U.S. flag. Zach is center in the red shirt. Other cousins are on bikes.

Jordan drove Parker in the parade on Grandma's lawn mower.

Aiden enjoyed the carnival games.

Later in the day, Parker had a great time lighting off firecrackers with his cousin, Jarom. When the firecrackers ran out, he had to move on to some more tame fireworks, like this popper.

Aiden, Dad and Zach enjoyed the sparklers.

For dinner, we pulled out the roasting sticks!

And as it got dark, the campfire ghost stories started!

After dark, the real show started. Aunt CC favored us with some colorful, sky-high, flashy fireworks. (Mortars!!! The whole town got a great show!!!) Unfortunately, the photographer for the evening was busy lighting fuses, so we have no pictures of this phenomenal show. But it was truly the BEST home firework show we've had!
