Halloween

Ah, Halloween. I'm always a little 'bah-humbug' about it. But Garrett, being the festive one, enjoys the holiday and loves to decorate for it. He also got the honor of carving pumpkins with the boys. (Our pumpkin patch did marvelous this year, so we had a porch full of them.)

Since Halloween fell on Sunday this year, we did a Trunk-or-Treat with our friends from church on Friday night instead. A chili dinner was provided, and Zach got volunteered to be in charge of fixing and serving the chili! He and his friend Sam both recruited help from their dads and the chili turned out great!

After the dinner clean-up was done, Zach & Sam came out to see if anyone had any candy left for them.

Parker read all the Harry Potter books this year in a few short month. And he loved them! So naturally, he went as a student from the Gryfindor house.

Aiden loves his fireman costume! In fact, he wears it year round and was happy to have an event to show it off!

Aleah is showing off her cute pumpkin trick-or-treat bag. But that is the only time she would hold it all night. She could care less about the trick-or-treating! She just wanted to run around, find things to climb on, and collect rocks.
All the better, I guess. I wouldn't have let her have the candy anyway, so it's probably best she didn't get any!

The girls I babysit every day joined us for the fun.
So cute!

On Saturday night, some friends from a nearby town were celebrating their Halloween. They invited us to join them for more trick-or-treating. Zach and Parker were very happy about this because they didn't get much from trunk-or-treat at church. We all went out to drop off the older boys, then let Aiden and Aleah go to a few houses with them. Of course, Aiden was thrilled, and Aleah just wanted to run and collect rocks again. :)

On Sunday, Garrett had the house all ready to go. The picture doesn't do it justice, but he had pumpkins strewn across the lawn with flashing strobe lights going off inside. There were spider webs with tons of plastic spiders, a fog machine and creepy Halloween music & noises. The boys had a great time decorating and handing out candy!

Aiden could not contain his excitement about handing out the candy! He claimed the job, set up his little station and faithfully watched the door for trick-or-treaters! A few times, he was so excited that he grabbed the candy and ran out to meet them in the driveway!

After Aiden got tired, he finally relented and let Zach & Parker have a turn. They both set up outside so they could run the fog machine while handing out the treats. It was a fun evening!
