Something to talk about

Today is Thursday.
A winter storm warning went into effect on Tuesday.
The blizzard started on Tuesday and lasted thru last night.
The last time we saw a snow plow on our street was Monday.
Needless to say, we are snowed in.

This is looking out our front door.

This is looking out our back door.
(Notice the snow bank ..... more than half as high as the door!)

We decided to keep up on our snow shoveling so it wouldn't get too out of hand.
On Tuesday, when the heavy snow started (1-2 inches per hour), we shoveled the driveway and sidewalks three times during the day. Each time had anywhere from 3-6 inches.
When we went out to shovel on Wednesday, it was 2 degrees, with a windchill well below 0.
So we had to work in 10-15 minute increments. The snow in our driveway measured 25 inches. (So much for not getting out of hand!!!) It was more like DIGGING out, rather than shoveling out. And after being out as long as we could handle, we had moved enough snow to get one vehicle out of the driveway. IF the city snowplows showed up during the night to clear the street. However, they are so busy trying to clear the main streets and freeways, that our street is still tire deep in snow. So yet again, we will enjoy a fun family day of being SNOWED IN!!!!
It's our annual snow shoveling DATE!!!

School was shut down mid-day on Tuesday. Garrett was also home from work by early Tuesday afternoon. (Everyone wanted to be off the roads before the blizzard started.) Since the plows still haven't arrived, we're still all here on Thursday. But we're not complaining!!! We've had a great time playing games, watching Christmas movies, making crafts and ornaments for our tree, and playing Wii. Today we are making sugar cookies and taking some treats to share with our neighbors. Having a few days of indoor fun has been WONDERFUL!!!!

HOPE YOU'RE ALL ENJOYING YOUR HOLIDAY SEASON TOO!
'MAY YOUR DAYS BE MERRY AND BREIT (oops! I mean BRIGHT!)
AND MAY ALL YOUR CHRISTMAS' BE WHITE.'

At least you guys have a snow shoveling date! When it snows here, Savannah says "Oh Aaron, it's snowing!" as if to say why are you inside and not outside shoveling?
