A Day at the Zoo

During this fun week of SPRING BREAK, we decided to take a day-trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. It is the best zoo we have been to yet!!!
We have many favorites there. But the JUNGLE and the BUTTERFLY PAVILION are the top two.
Garrett told the boys that 5 of us were going in, but only 4 were coming back out -- because the zoo was recruiting new monkeys for their exhibit. However, none of us made the final cut, so we all ended up coming home. :)

THE JUNGLE
"We're going on a jungle adventure .... to see what we can see ..."
(Anybody else know that Barney song?)

Fishing without nets ...

they caught something!!
And didn't even get kicked out for playing in the stream!

Aren't they CUTE!!
(You'll just have to guess which picture I'm talking about.)

Such brave boys ... they all crossed the swinging rope bridge!

Zach liked to make it rock back and forth!

We gave it our best shot, BUT ...........

These are the guys and gals that beat us at the monkey auditions!

Cave life is not for the faint of heart. I didn't mind the bats and the furry little nocturnal animals -- but the creepy, crawly things and the crocodiles were definitely NOT my favorite.
Stalactites and stalagmites are COOL though!

The aquarium is always fun. Especially the friendly penguins.
This one swam eye-to-eye with Parker.
He seemed to be just as curious about Parker as Parker was about him.

It's a tall building that can house a family of giraffes.
(Look at the cute little people doors. :)

We started and ended our day at the same place --
the BUTTERFLY PAVILION.

This friendly 'owl eye' butterfly immediately landed on Parker, and remained there for the next 10 minutes. What an exciting thing!!! He was the center of attention not only for our family, but for all the other visitors in the pavilion too!

This is the butterfly nursery. Many different kinds of butterflies are in different stages of hatching from their chrysalis'.

OK -- I know what you're thinking --
"Poor baby! They stayed too long! He was exhausted and overwhelmed!"
YOU'RE WRONG!!! It was more like --
'Poor Mom & Dad couldn't keep up with him anymore,
so we had to put him in the stroller for a while just to catch our breath. But he wailed so loud about being locked up that we had to let him out again and put our running shoes back on!
He had a GREAT time!
As we all did!
