Random Stuff

There's a saying: "Dreaming of greener pastures".

In my case, I guess it's quite literal.
I woke up yesterday morning with this year's
garden all planned out in my head. I knew
what I would be planting more of, less of, and
none of. I knew how I was going to rearrange
planting sections, and even had some thoughts
on how to better keep the mice and raccoons
from steeling the 'fruits of my labors'.

I could perfectly visualize that beautiful garden ...
Until I looked out the window at the new blanket
of snow, increasingly hiding any signs of green.

Oh well. It was great dreaming.
I think I'll write it all down anyway to
save on planning time in the spring.

Have you been a mom very long?
If you can answer this question, then you have.

What is one of the last things you want to hear
your child say when he's leaning over your bed
at 2 a.m. to wake you up?

Yep.
It's been a few rough nights and days around here!

Funny boy!
I am so lucky to have such a pleasant child!
Aiden keeps me laughing every day.

A few weeks ago he said to me,
"Mommy, our house looks like a barn
where little piggies live."
Oh well, at least we're happy little piggies!
And when grandma heard about it,
she sent Aiden the cutest little stuffed piggie.
What fun!

Our pre-naptime house looks like
a tornado has blown through. But it all gets
cleaned up during naptime. Ahh ... back to normal.
But when Aiden gets up from his nap,
he politely asks me, "Mom, can I make a mess again?"
Isn't it great that he at least asks? Who could say
"no" when he has such great manners?!?!

Last week, he insisted he needed some
"game time snacks".
Where did that come from???
We don't even watch sports around here!

I'm sure you've heard the saying:
"Anything you can do, I can do better".
Well, around here, it's:
'anything mom can't do, dad will do better.'
Aiden has complete confidence that his dad can do
ANYTHING!
If the answer is 'no' when he asks me to do something,
he nicely says, "Don't worry. I'll ask daddy when
he gets home. He can do it."

Aahh .... potty training. Can't say I've even
started it with Aiden yet. He has absolutely
no interest. I keep making little comments about
it to see if I can peek his interest. But no luck.
The other day, I told him I needed to take a break
from our playtime because I needed to go potty.
I explained that since I am a 'big girl' now,
I don't wear diapers, so I go to the potty.
Aiden kindly replied, "Don't worry. When daddy
gets home, we'll go to the store and get you
some mommy diapers."
Hhmm. Not quite the response I was hoping for.
