Port San Luis

After church on Sunday, we decided to take a drive to Port San Luis.
It's one of those places on 'my list of things to do'.  We go there every time we go back to Santa Maria.  And it's always a lot of fun.
This year it was crazy busy!  Thinking the holiday weekend crowd would be done, we headed out.  And almost gave up before getting there.  It was so packed!  We had to wait in line just to get a parking spot ... and it has been virtually empty every other time we've gone.
But we stuck it out and had a great time.  (Once the kids forgave us for the miserably long drive getting there with all the holiday traffic.)

On the pier it was windy and cold.
(The kids are still working on the forgiveness part here!)

But the sights were picture perfect.

Once we got down by the water, it was beautiful.  We were sheltered from the wind and there was plenty of sun.  The kids forgot how miserable they were and had such a great time!
Aiden loved racing the waves that were coming in.

Zach and Parker went hunting for seashells and other treasures.

They got pretty lucky with what they found.
(Don't worry ... they returned them safely to the water.)

Aiden and Aleah enjoyed digging and writing their names in the sand.

Super fun afternoon!
