Grandma & Grandpa visit

We were so HAPPY that Grandma & Grandpa Thompson came to visit!
The week flew by and we just didn't have enough time with them.
And, of course, I didn't get enough pictures either.  But here are some of the highlights....

They had a bumper crop of apples this year, so they loaded up the car and brought some out to fill up our canning jars.  This one, however, was a keeper.  Isn't it HUGE???

Grandma also brought us a new juicer.  And with all the apples and other fruit we had on hand, Aiden & Grandma had a great time making different varieties of juice for us.  They used apples, bananas, grapes, watermelon, tomatoe, mixed vegetables, and probably a few more I can't remember.

Always the worker bee ... Grandma canned 72 quarts of apples during her one week stay!
We're all set for a winter filled with applesauce, apple muffins, apple pancakes, apple cake, and apple pie.
Grandpa also sorted out a few boxes of the nicest apples to just keep for eating fresh.  YUMMY!!!
We have worked our way through those boxes so quickly.  Aiden especially loves them.  At least twice a day he asks for another 'Grandma apple'.  :)

Grandpa got his share of work too!
With freezing temperatures expected, the remaining produce had to be picked.  And there was ALOT!  We ended up with 5 or 6 boxes of tomatoes, numerous large bowls full of cherry tomatoes, about 30 cantaloupe, 6 watermelon, bags full of green & red peppers, and a few other vege's.
It was a beautiful day and all the kids helped out.  We were grateful to have Grandpa's help too so we didn't lose all that yummy produce!

Grandma & Grandpa always challenge the boys to a game (or a dozen games) of checkers.  And the boys love it!

We had the fire pit ready for cooking s'mores.  Not that Grandma & Grandpa don't get enough of that during the summer..... but they were good sports and enjoyed being out there with the kids.

We took a quick trip to the zoo.  The weather turned out to be quite a bit colder than we expected, so we only stayed a short time.  But it was still lots of fun!

Grandpa joined Garrett & the boys on their traditional boys night out dinner, prior to the Priesthood Conference session.
Don't they look handsome!!!

Grandpa & Grandma came at the perfect time to see all the beautiful fall leaves!
Gorgeous!
