We went with Grandpa Breit to see all the Monarch butterflies that had migrated to Santa Maria for the winter.
The butterflies hang in large clusters up in the trees. (Center of the photo)
From the ground it looks like clusters of dead leaves. But when you look through the telescopes you can see in detail that it is actually thousands of butterflies huddled together. There were an estimated 20+ thousand there. Fascinating!!!
